Traditional Crafts of Japan Exhibited in Tokyo
Feb 25th, 2009 | By Shane Sakata | Category: Events
Rustic hand made Japanese pottery, paper along with beautiful examples of and lacquerware, dyed and woven fabrics will all be on display at the Dento-teki Kogeihin-ten WAZA 2009 (Japan Traditional Crafts Exhibition) from February 26th through March 3rd at the Ikebukuro Tobu Department Store.
Not only will you be able to view a beautiful array of traditional handicrafts from Japan, you can purchase them too! Pick up something that you can use or a beautiful piece of art for your home – either way you are assured of a unique souvenir from your visit to Japan.
The exhibit will be open daily from 10AM to 8PM (5PM on March 3rd) and is free to visit. Take the west exit from the Ikebukuro Station. (Ikebukuro map)
If you can’t make it to this exhibit, visit the Japanese Traditional Craft Center, also located in Ikebukuro, to view an impressive array of traditional arts & crafts from the various regions of Japan. Demonstrations are regularly scheduled, in fact, I recently saw how Geta are made. The center is open daily from 11Am until 5PM and admission is free.
